Stabbed Cork

O, how I love this wretched world

A timely dance ‘fore we’re last curled

Hestia gave her seat for him

So let us dance before the scrim

Lusts bejeweled in prim and rot

Sung as hymns we were never taught

So blessed is the old stabbed cork

And lessons learned with knife and fork

For joy may be the feast for eyes

But pleasure is the indulged prize

I write, act, and produce films in Los Angeles. Everything else is conjecture.

  1. I wrote a short comment to the Facebook page for Crystal Lake Wines by Adrienne King. My comment inspired this poem. Here is what I wrote on that Facebook page: O, how I love this wretched world/A timely dance ‘fore we’re last curled/Bottoms up the Friday nights/Just a tempest of delights…A little verse I wrote just now for fun. I grew up with the Friday films. They were the forbidden delights when I was a child. I am happy to have discovered this page and the wines promoted therein. Crystal Lake started off a sad mother’s cauldron of horrors; but with time, as in all things, the blood has given way to a vintage in a bottle.
