Winter Flower

Once upon a time in Spring

I wandered off the Sun’s refrain

In search of Love’s eternal fling

My wanderlust a harnessed rain

Be still, and she will kiss you

Where Sun has never ravished Snow

Her white lips flowered Winter’s true

Diana’s silhouette, I trow

Dreams in merriment aglow

My heart’s a hawk in floral mew

My past castoff’s a jealous row

There’s nothing left but me and you

So stay with me awhile here

Where the Sun ne’re rises nor sets

Our Winter’s tale we need not fear

When Winter’s freed from all her threats

Limbo, fairest of them all

Lukewarm icicle on my tongue

My Love’s a whispered shudder call

A Winter’s bloom that’s never sung
