Stand Alone

What am I to do

When I stand alone

Before the clouds in my heart?

Left there in the dark

Your hand has left mine

You know me in our grievance

Shared in loneliness

Coupled when apart

You search me in our despair

What am I to do

When I stand alone

Before what we have become?

Born for the dark sun

For the light switched off

You know me in my closet

Dead to tomorrow

Too far passed the wall

You search me in my past sins

What am I to do

When I stand alone

Before what is haunting us?

Too many weeds there

Too many to pull

We can only water thorns

This garden is ours

Our slice of Eden

Which we must hoe all alone

We seed the gray soil

With recycled tears

Which we must reap all alone

Wedded in our bliss

Married in regrets

Upturned chins and fancied smiles

What am I to do

Please tell me, I beg

But tuck in my shirt and sigh?
