To All the Girls

To all the girls I’ve loved before

I’ve shaved my head upon this floor

Plucked my eyes to devil’s care

Tapped my feet in flaming snare

Offered up my flesh incense

My smoldered heart for six pence

Nothing left but whispered sighs

My love torment is your prize

So turn your heads and look at me

Your winsome grins will set me free

My love labors lost in time

But remembered as sublime

Like fool’s gold passed from bride to bride

A relic tale that keeps the tide

A trifle life that’s cast in stone

A bit of dust now Adam’s bone

All because I loved so much

The girls I dreamt with my touch

All my strokes a new creation

A Demiurge for sensation

My life a fallen god’s dance

My soul a tale left to chance

All for lust pretended love

A black bird cast as a dove

Still, for all that I do confess

Endured love if you’ll but profess

My foolish game inspired your mirth

And in my tease I had some worth

To all the girls I’ve loved before

Will you confess I’m not a bore?
