Trail to Nowhere

Hike the trail to nowhere

Find you’re already there

Step wherever you care

Stop where no one will dare

And then just live awhile

Get hip to your own style

Turn up your first soul’s dial

Dance out passed the last mile

Or simply remain still

Each moment a new thrill

No obeisance to your will

Nothing your pride may kill

The trail is narrow out here

Thinner than a rich man’s tear

When he observes from the rear

His camel pass with no fear

So dig in with your boot

Grafted to the trail’s root

Bloom to the heaven’s flute

Rise with what else is moot

For here you are nothing

Your life a pawned off ring

Treasure sold for a fling

Nothing left but to sing

Humming a simple tune

While flapping for a loon

Lost like in a girl’s swoon

Your pride a shredded roon

No flesh out here to burn

Your heart freed of concern

Your trail one last return

To where the gods sojourn
