Quiet Lake

Heaven is a place

Just around the bend

Away from the noise

And lonesome chatter

Inside of your head

Go out there today

There’s no time to wait

Lay on your rowboat

On the quiet lake

Let ripples move you

Wherever they flow

See trees above you

Dance gently in wind

Or stand tall and proud

Dressed in dappled light

Mountains soar higher

Earth reaching the sky

Stairway to heaven

Where the soul abides

In gratitude love

And in thanksgiving

For law written hearts

And quieted minds

But that is all there

Way up in the clouds

So near and yet far

From you and your boat

Your job is to rest

Peace your one concern

Let God do the rest

Do not seek answers

Do not speak your will

Do not stand up tall

Like Pharisees do

Lest you knock your boat

And fall overboard

Do nothing up there

And even better

Be nothing up there

Except for one thing

A soul on a boat

In love with her God.
